As the health care industry is evolving, electronic device is playing a role more and more important for both care givers and patients. In Taiwan, the island of high technology, medical electronics has been one major focus of the industry, the government and the academy. ZEBEX is also striving to enter this field with our full line of auto ID products.

One of our recent successes is the application of Z-3050BT wireless CCD scanner in the health care industry. Together with our business partner, one SI provider, we build Nurse E-Cart for a prestigious general hospital in Taipei. The E-Cart is used as a multi-function wireless work station. Nurses can push the carts to wards and provide services for patients in bed. For example, when nurses are dispensing description of patients in the hospital, they use Z-3050 wireless CCD scanner to check patient’s identity and the medicine he or she is supposed to take. In this case, wireless means convenient mobility and no tangled cable attached; CCD optical system means no laser radiation and possible harm to users and patients.

The use of barcode scanner is also an important step for patient identity management. At the time patients register for hospitalization, they would be given a number and the number would appear in barcode format on every related nursing operation. It is to automatically record the nursing process and prevent human error.
