Q：How do I correct the problem where data is outputted incorrectly only when the scanner is connected via USB port?

  • When the scanner is able to read the barcode the problem may be caused by the incorrect host interpretation of the USB protocol. Please use the following setting codes to adjust the USB speeds.

    ．USB0: Regular speed mode. Usually for older operating systems like Windows 98 when default setting is not working. 
    ．USB1: Full speed mode. The default speed of the scanner. 

    ．USB2: Middle speed mode. Usually for Mac O.S. or Linux O.S when default setting is not working.

Q：When I try to read barcode, I hear a beep and a light comes on but nothing appears on the screen.

  • ．Make sure the scanner is set to the right interface. (USB, keyboard wedge, RS-232, etc.) Please refer to the Programming Guide to setup the scanner interface. 

    ．Make sure the right cable is used to connect to the host

Q：Why character has being dropped when I scan a barcode?

  • The character delay time may be set too short. Please refer to the Programming Guide to increase the character delay time.

Q：The scanner does not read Code 39 Full ASCII barcode such as special symbol like $! or % less than 3 digits.

  • The default minimum Code 39 length is 3 digits. Please refer to the Programming Guide to enable Full ASCII Code 39 and set the minimum default to 1 digit.

Q：How do I set the minimum length for ITF 2 of 5 or other types of symbologies?

  • Please follow the steps below and refer to the Programming Guide to set the minimum or maximum length.



Q：The scanner is on but can not read barcodes.

  • ．Make sure the scanner window is clean. Wipe the scan window with a soft lint-free cloth and a non-abrasive
       cleaner to remove dust or fingerprints. 
    ．The presented barcode type is not enabled. Many symbologies are not enabled by default. Please refer to the
       Programming Guide to enable the barcode type. 
    ．Make sure the scanner is not disabled by the host. 
    ．Make sure the barcode type you scan is supported. 
    ．Adjust the label length setting of the barcode type. 
    ．Makes sure the density of the barcodes meet the specification of the scanner.

Q：Can ZEBEX scanners read RSS (GS1 Databar) barcodes?

  • The scanners can read the RSS(GS1 Databar) barcodes. Please check the decode capability chart on our website.

Q：We have a UPC-A barcode and the value is 0201050002206. When the scanner reads and transmits this barcode, it omits the first zero. What should I do?

  • The scanner may identify the barcode as EAN-13 code if the first digit of the UPC-A is 0. Please change the scanner setting to "EAN-13 first "0" can be transmitted" using the Programming Guide to resolve this issue.

Q： The Code 128 cannot be read. Observing the quiet zone is not enough.

  • Normally the quiet zone has to be observed as necessary when making the barcodes.



    If barcodes have been made. Please refer to the margin settings and try to set the margin smaller to see if able to correct the problem and output normally.

Q：How do I set the scanner so it can read the extra code in magazines?

  • Please refer to the programming guide to set the EAN/UPC "Add on 2 or 5" for the scanner.

Q：When scanning a 12 digit barcode the scanner automatically adds an leading zero to make it 13 digits. How do I stop scanner from doing that?

  • If the barcode type is EAN-13, please set EAN-13 country code first:"0" can't transmitted.

Q：Is it possible to configure the scanner to scan only the first 6 numbers from Code128?

  • The present handheld scanner can only be set to scan the first 6 numbers for all barcode including Code 128.

Q： Is it possible to emulate F1-F10 keys when reading a barcode?

  • Yes, to read the barcode to perform F1~F10 keys please refer to the programming guide to set the scanner to barcode value:
    Start→3902(Full ASCII code 39)→3909(Code 39 minimum length setting)→1(Full ASCII ‐‐‐1)→SET→CP05(Function key emulation enable)→End
    Then they can read the Function key-----“F1” to Function key-----“F10” barcode directly to emulate pressing F1~F10 key on keyboard.



Q：How do I set the scanner so it puts a "$" in front of barcode?

  • Please refer to the programming guide.

    For example (1D scanner) : Set the scanner to barcode value: Start → HT01 → $ → SET → End.






Q：How do I program the scanner to read EAN13 "variable weight" that starts with 02?

  • Please set the scanner to "EAN-13 country code first '0' can transmitted."

Q：How do I set the scanner to give 2 enters (CR)?

  • The factory default of scanner has 1 Enter. Please refer to the programming guide to set the scanner to barcode value: Srart →CP05→HT02→CR→SET→End .



Q： LED shows steady purple(red/blue) color.

  • This indicates a scanner failure. Please power off the unit and return it for repair.

Q：The scanner is on but the motor is not rotating and barcodes can not be read. The blue LED is intermittently flashing.

  • The scanner has entered the sleep mode. Place an item within the scanner's motion detecting area and move back and forth or left and right to wake up the scanner.

Q：After updating the firmware, the scanner beeps twice and laser stops working.

  • Please restore the original firmware or update the firmware again. If problem persists, please return the unit for repair.

Q：How do I use Z-6010 as an USB virtual COM device?

  • 1. Change the cable to USB virtual cable (171-40U315-200 or 171-40U310-200).
    2. install driver.
    3. Set the Z-6010 to RS232 interface.

Q：Does Z-6010 support USB virtual COM?

  • To use the USB virtual COM function, an USB virtual COM cable is required.

    1. Update particular firmware version to Omnidirectional Laser Scanner Ver:60100-322 09/29/2017 with USB virtual-COM interface.

    2. Connect USB cable (PN: 171-40U322-200)

    3. Set to USB virtual-COM

    4. Install driver for Windows 7/8 (Windows 10 has included)
